OpenMCX has been successfully integrated with the Future Networx 5G Standalone (SA) Core and an Askey radio access network, in an integration effort led by telecoms engineer Mehdi Bamou, with contributions from Ismael Abdelouahed.
The integration demonstrates how open-source Mission Critical Services can operate beyond a conventional over-the-top (OTT) deployment, using the interfaces, policy control mechanisms, and traffic flows of a 5G mobile network.
The work brought together three key components: OpenMCX for Mission Critical Services, the Future Networx 5G SA Core for mobile connectivity and policy control, and Askey radio equipment for network access. The integration demonstrates a portable 5G System (5GS) built around a tactical case to support Mission Critical Services.
Acknowledgement: OpenMCX acknowledges Mehdi Bamou and Ismael Abdelouahed for sharing this integration work and contributing to the growing community knowledge around deploying OpenMCX in a 5G Standalone environment.
